Do some REsearch. Before you fling off a goal, take some time. Dive in.
What is a single change that would have the biggest leverage in your life? Take this week and do some research. I am getting together with a friend and doing our yearly goals at the end of the month.
Give yourself the room to REnegotiate if you have made a goal that is just too big to manage. Break it down to make it happen. Keep focused on taking steps toward creating more of what you want.
I had the insane idea to go gluten free over the holidays. I made my goal to be gluten free 6 out of 7 days each week…(It was great to have New Year’s Eve off). I also set it up so that I am able to REevaluate the goal each month. It is far smarter to win a smaller goal than fail at something too ambitious.

How Do You Stand Out?
Sometimes the best answer is…. a question.
In this holiday season many of us reflect on the year that has passed. What worked and what didn’t? What am I grateful for? What is your favorite vegetable? (More on that later)
Many small business owners are looking at the past year and seeing that next year they will need to get even more serious about standing out. Remember, there were 400,000,000 tweets…today. Every day there are 375,000 new blogs.
This is where vegetables come in.
Yep.
The answer to your business dilemmas may be answered by a green, leafy veggie. Looking at ordinary items with a new curiosity may give you answers you didn’t expect to find.

Velcro was invented in 1941 by Georges de Mestral lived in Switzerland. He looked at the (seeds) that kept sticking to his clothes and his dog’s fur. Instead of just brushing it off, he looked more closely.
He examined them under a microscope. Their hundreds of “hooks” caught on anything with a loop and Velcro was born.

Don’t over look the ordinary…You can find inspiration and solutions in looking at things symbolically. For example: Velcro was designed after taking a closer look at clinging debris.

Brussels sprouts are a Christmas dish in England..and one of my personal favorites. There is a great outer marketing lesson.
Brussels sprouts grow about 2 feel tall. They stand out. You would never know this at your local super market. Most people serve them in the same hum drum manner. Boiled. Yuck.
In its natural state, a Brussels sprout looks magical. You ARE magical in your natural state. The more authentic and unadulterated you are, the more clearly you can convey your value.

How Do I Make a Change?
Baidu (the Chinese Google) is trouncing Google in profitablilty.
Who cares?
You may. One of the first four investors in Baidu is friendly with my beau. This tech billionaire is taking all his money out of tech and investing in almond farms. As a leading global investor he is doing something dramatically different.
Translation: Times will be changing. 2012 is going up to be a very interesting year. Good interesting or bad interesting. It is up to you.
How you move forward in the coming year will depend on how well you can make a big change. That’s why I wanted to give you some change tools this week.

It has never been more important to build real relationships. I know this sounds weird to say on an internet…but you need to look people in the eyes, shake their hands and most importantly listen. New markets will be opening up..and you will want to take advantage of them!
Don’t Let Distance Stop You
I’ve just come back from Helsinki, Finland. To put distance in perspective, St. Petersburg, Russia is the next big city. I think you will be able to see the jet lag and my bad hair day in today’s video.
Some people feel shut out of the game because they don’t live in a big urban area, but the internet has changed that!
I was in Finland working with “Mo†(as he likes his friends to call him), who started a business in his bedroom five years ago and now has 25 million people on his website at Muxlim.com.
Mo has had such outrageous success. He speaks to the UN Security Council, and his business is being studied in business schools around the world. There are only 30,000 Muslims in Finland. So how did he get 25 million on his site in 5 years? Over the coming weeks I will give you some of his insider secrets!
